What would make someone quit a steady job in journalism (even when the book was written, hard to do) and decide to take a year and a half to become a sommelier? It seems her journalistic curiosity has a lot to do with it. And this is definitely a well-written book but it did drag for me after awhile. I made it through to the end but reading about wine that much palled for me. I know that other readers have enjoyed it thoroughly, mainly because of the writing, because other people in my book group have said that's the part they like.
The best part about this book is that it cemented my decision to not learn more about wine that what I do like and what I don't.
