American Witch by Thea Harrison, narrator Sophie Eastlake

There have been weird things happening to Molly Sullivan for months. And it culminates on the night that she is putting together a party for her husband and finds another woman's panties in her bed. In her bed. First, she runs away, but then she confronts her husband in front of all of his business associates, including the new DA (her husband is a lawyer), and then she hightails it out of there taking clothes, jewelry, and everything in their shared safe.
In the safety of a hotel, she discovers papers that show that not all of her husband's dealings were above board. She is also shocked to discover that the new DA, Josiah Riverdale, has followed her to the hotel. And he says that she is a powerful witch.
While Molly is at first skeptical, she starts to realize that the past few months have all been pointing her in this direction. And that this opening to her own power coincides with a time when she might need it most.
The late middle got a little mushy with a lot of time skips but I overall really did enjoy this book. Sophie Eastlake, the narrator was top notch as well and I'm looking forward to the next one in the series. Read about this on Dear Author.

Moonshadow by Thea Harrison

I had heard about this book on a podcast and was pleasantly surprised that it is as good as it was advertised to be. Yes, there were some issues with it (I was confused for some portions and Nikolas was often an asshat) but I really liked the world building and am really looking forward to the other books in this series.
Sophie Ross is a witch. Most recently she's been working for the LAPD. But she's surprised to hear that she might have an inheritance. This is surprising since Sophie was an orphan. But the man who placed her has left a rather interesting will. One wherein he has left money for the children he placed with supernatural families would have a chance to inherit a house if they can find a way inside. So Sophie  flies to the UK, figuring she'd at least have a chance to heal from the wounds that took her off the force.
First thing, she finds a stray dog that seems to have been abused horribly. Then she narrowly misses a man who has a great deal of magic. She runs into the man again at the same time werewolf-like creatures attack the inn she's staying at. It turns out he's a mystical warrior working to stop Isabeau, wake up Oberon, and return to his homeland. I didn't really get a ton of connection other than sexual between Sophie and Nikolas but I'm hoping there's more further into the series.

Natural Evil and Devil's Gate by Thea Harrison

Former military sniper Claudia Hunter is at loose ends. She is just over forty and only needed four more years until retirement but she wanted to get out. So now she's just traveling the United States, living as simply as possible. During a trip through a Nevada desert, she feels compelled to stop and walk out a little distance. That's where she discovers a dog that has obviously been beaten and then dragged behind a car. It is only just barely alive. She manages to get the oversize animal into her car using her telekinesis and then hits the highway at a rush. When a sheriff pulls her over, she is startled to realize that he is acting very strangely once he sees the dog. But he does help her get the dog to a vet. There, he continues to act strangely before eventually leaving. That is when the vet and Claudia share their suspicions that the dog is actually a Wyr shifter.
And he is. But for reasons of his own (and as he heals), Luis Alvarez doesn't want to let on what he is. Too bad Claudia immediately starts needling him and calling him "Precious." When he finally does speak, it's to reveal that Claudia is right, there is something bigger going on and he was targeted because of what he figured out.
The tarot deck mentioned in the first Elder Races novella plays a small role in this story as well.
This was a nice novella and I hope that we get to see more of Claudia and Luis. How will their relationship work when Luis is Wyr and it's implied that Claudia, a human, is his mate?

Seremela Telemar is as susceptible to helping family as the next person. Now her niece, Vetta, who swiped the magical tarot deck from Claudia in the last Elder Races novel, has run away from home and  toward Devil's Gate, a present day gold rush - though, in this case it's a silver that holds magic easily.
When Duncan Turner, lawyer vampyre, hears that Seremela is going to the most lawless place in the United States, where nothing is being policed, he tells her he can't let her go alone. With a voice like Alan Rickman's, so smooth that other lawyers and judges will come just to hear him speak on the rare occasions he still tries a case, he convinces her to let him come along.
Short but sweet, this book is better read in the context of the full Elder Races series, at least the other novellas.

Lionheart by Thea Harrison

Lionheart by Thea HarrisonDr. Katheryn Shaw is one of the most well-known surgeons on Earth. Her skill is virtually unmatched. But there are other surgeons so she's confused as to why the warriors of Lyonesse are so insistent that she has to be the one to save their lord, Oberon. He had been poisoned 15 years ago (in Lyonesse time, it was two hundred years ago on Earth because of the time slippage) by a needle that is slowly, magically working it's way toward Oberon's heart. And even though he's physically alive, the magic in the needle has killed all of his emotions. Even though he sleeps, his power rages around his countryside making it impossible for anyone to live there because it is so cold.
This was a fast-paced novel with action on every page. It made the romance a bit shallow but the reading was quick and interesting. I definitely would read the other two books in the series first but, if you have read the other two, you should like this one.

Spellbinder by Thea Harrison

Spellbinder by Thea HarrisonHow do you take the villain from the first book, and not just the villain, but, like, a super bad no good horrible very bad villain, and make him the hero of your second book? Well, somehow Thea Harrison manages.
In  Moonshadow, a gender-flipped, slightly differently spelled Morgan le Fae is a wicked wizard/lycanthrope. In this book he's revealed to be a slave to the evil Isabeau, bound to follow her every command. So when she commands him not to come into her sight until he's healed, Morgan takes full advantage and makes plans to stay injured for as long as possible. While he's "on vacation," he hears about Sidonie Martel. She is a fabulous violinist and Morgan has always been drawn to music even if he doesn't play anymore. He, like many of her audience, is completely entranced. Too bad his interest brings Sidonie to the attention of Robin/Puck who kidnaps Sidonie and delivers her to Isabeau in an effort to get even with Morgan.
Sidonie has no idea what's going on. One minute she's on the road after a concert, the next she's in Avalon, the prisoner of vindictive queen who has her hands broken. But then, a mysterious force comes to heal her and protect her. Over time, she learns to trust this man she doesn't see, but isn't sure how they can ever be together.
A lovely story that continues the world-building I enjoyed in the first book.
