Temptation on Ocean Drive by Jennifer Probst

Bella Sunshine has been singularly slow on the uptake where Gabe Garcia is concerned. Yes, he's invaluable to the family company of wedding planning. But, first she assumed he was gay, then she believed the gossip about his dating habits. She's also made little remarks here and there that show that she doesn't think of him as anything but a playboy. Which is a shame because Gabe is in love not only with Bella but with her little girl Zoe as well. He's finally brave enough to make his move, but will Bella be able to make hers?
Like the first book, I felt like there could have been a little bit more introspection from one of the characters. I also wish we had seen more of Gabe -- he was just a little too perfect.

Love on Beach Avenue by Jennifer Probst

Avery Sunshine is delighted to help her best friend get married. As an in-demand wedding planner, she is wedging Ally in but she is happy to do it. She is not so happy that Ally's older brother has decided that he's going to take the summer off and "make sure" that Ally's day is perfect. Too bad he still believes Avery is the wild-child who led his sister astray in college. And two brides fighting on her doorstep the first day he sees her doesn't give the best impression. Then he completely takes over the planning for Ally's day and really could have shaken Avery's confidence if he hadn't owned up to what he was doing. I really wish we had seen him put a bit more in his place but it was nice to see him realize that he was being a jerk.
While the two work together, they start to acknowledge that there is an attraction between them. Avery is wiling to work on a relationship but Carter is hesitant. He has A Past that makes him wary of love. They eventually work it out and I liked that there wasn't a Big Misunderstanding and, in fact, there was a rather pointed remark by one character that love can be lost through little misunderstandings as well.

A Brand New Ending by Jennifer Probst

A Brand New Ending (Stay, #2)Kyle Kimpton is coming home after becoming a successful screenwriter in Hollywood. But not everyone in his home town is ready to welcome him with open arms. In fact, there at least one person who is decidedly UNhappy to see him. His former flame Ophelia. Not just his former flame but the woman who had gone to Hollywood with him to make it big. The same woman who left him without a word. And now she's refusing to let him stay at her B&B. But that's where Kyle needs to be, it's the place he can face his past.
Ophelia remembers a different past than Kyle. In her memory, she fought as hard as she could to make him understand her. She tried so many times to make him listen. But he left her. And now he's back, trying to act as though everything has changed. But has it?
I wish there had been a little longer ending but overall a very nice story.

All or Nothing at All by Jennifer Probst

All or Nothing at All by Jennifer ProbstWhen she was younger, Sydney Green loved Tristan Pierce fiercely. She didn't have a lot of love in her life and she was able to find a little with Tristan until he unceremoniously dumped her. Now they've been working together at the Pierce Brothers Construction. And he's the only one standing between her and what she wants, a giant promotion. Well, she's damn good at her job so he doesn't stand in her way for long. It seems like a lot of their old hurts are being mended. Tristan is even taking some interest in Sydney's daughter, something he didn't seem to be able to do for a long time. Now there's just one more secret left to be told...
I didn't love how they resolved this secret. It was a bit... contrived. This was not my favorite Probst series though this actually was the best book in the bunch.

Searching for Disaster by Jennifer Probst

Searching for Disaster by Jennifer ProbstLike most novellas, this one was just a little too short to really get into the characters as well as develop a good story. And this one had parts that were just a little too twee. Big props for not allowing a Big Misunderstanding though and actually having (well, one of the characters) talk it out.
Isabella MacKenzie was a screw-up. A drug-addicted screw-up. A stark contrast to her sweet and happily married sister Alexa and an especial contrast to her own surgeon twin, Genevieve. When the novella opens, Isabella is trying to calm her demons by hooking up with a guy who has old Hollywood good looks, Liam.
Liam is visiting his little brother in college while he himself is on break from cop school. At a party, he meets and has an epic one night stand with a girl whose demons are close to the surface. He recognizes that and walks away but still, six years later, can't forget Izzy.
In the present day, Izzy is two years clean (thanks to her best friend Raven (the bartender from the Billionaire Builders series?)) and working at Kinnections, the wildly successful dating agency around which the "Searching For" series rotates. When the ladies of the agency talk about setting her up with Stone's partner Devine, Isabella tells them she isn't ready. She's still working on herself. But then she realizes just who Devine is...
I thought Liam was a little too pushy but overall liked that he was (mostly) willing to wait for Izzy to come to her own conclusions about their relationship. I think regular "Searching For" readers will not be disappointed by this addition to the series.

Searching for Perfect by Jennifer Probst

So now it's Kennedy's turn to find her true love. Do you need to read the first book in the series? Nope. But I think it's the better book. I had to take some time and mull over this book because, once again, I can’t figure out why I enjoyed this book. It had so many of the plots that are usually major irking points. I mean, can we just talk about the fact that Nate's initials spell "nerd?" The author uses Kennedy to point this out, but did it really need to be done? It's like Nate's nerdiness was being slapped in our face over and over. The fake tan, the unibrow, etc., etc. It's just too much.
I won't go on and on because there may be things that others may not notice and I don't want to bring them up.
This is almost as irritating as not being able to put your finger on why you don’t like a book. The scenes, though explicit (which I don’t usually enjoy,) were actually fun to read. And watching Nate’s growth was also fun.

Searching for Someday by Jennifer Probst

Image linked from Goodreads
It was really interesting that I kept sort of noticing things as I was reading that really annoyed me, but my overall feeling about this book was one of good will. I enjoyed it quite a bit and devoured it almost in one sitting (darn planes kept landing).
Kate Seymour is a matchmaker with some mystical powers, namely, she can sense a spark between two people who were meant to be together. Okay, yes, hokey
and even more hokey, she loses the power when she denies her own feelings. But it seemed to work.

Slade is a divorce lawyer who doesn't believe in love. He becomes a client of Kate's so that he can debunk the myth of them doing any good in the world (because he's overprotective-ly trying to save his sister from heartbreak.)
This is all very cliched and should have driven me nuts. The sex scenes were a bit more graphic than I like but you can always skim those. I was impressed that the characters were so good about protection, none of this magic hoo-ha or "I know you're a virgin so you must be pure" crap.
The worst part of this review is that I can not tell you why I enjoyed the book so much, especially since, as I noted, so many things irritated me (I didn't put them all in. Why point them all out if they're personal rather than storyline peeves? It must have been the writing. And I can't wait for the next books in the series.
