Forever Charmed by Rose Pressey

I really like Rose Pressey's Haunted Vintage Myster series so, when this book was free on Kindle, I picked it up. And it's an interesting story. Halloween Laveau inherited her great-aunt's gigantic house. She can't afford the upkeep and is converting it into a B&B. But there is something buried in the house. A powerful something. Something powerful enough to even make Hallie, a fair-to-middling witch, a necromancer. And that means that all sorts of beasties and ghoulies are going to show up at her house, including two hotties who seem to have it out for each other.
I finished the book but just barely. I didn't like Hallie for most of the book (not very bright and not a lot of backbone) and the world building was sort of scattered. I might try the second book if I can get it for free since the book picked up at the end and because I know that Pressey can write better, this might just be first-book-itis.

Fashions Fade, Haunted is Eternal by Rose Pressey

Fashions Fade, Haunted Is Eternal (A Haunted Vintage Mystery, #7)
Cookie Chanel is back again. This time she's got the ghost of a 1920s flapper who joins her in a cemetery where a fashion shoot is going on. Cookie is the clothing expert. Too bad the photographer is a jerk. A dead jerk before all is said and done. A dead jerk who also joins Cookie's crew as a black cat.
This book was okay but not at all up to the levels of the others in this series. This was definitely more disjointed and the story lines just sort of petered out.

A Passion for Haunted Fashion by Rose Pressey

A Passion for Haunted Fashion by Rose PresseyCookie Chanel is helping out as a costume designer at the local theater. One night, she's in the basement when she meets a 1950s ghost named Peggy while a man is murdered upstairs. The main suspect? Cookie's friend Heather. So she has two murders to solve.
I was a bit bummed because Cookie didn't spend as much time with Heather as would have been nice and Peggy's murder was solved incredibly quickly just to wrap up the end of the book. Not a horrible addition to the series but not one of the better ones.

If the Haunting Fits, Wear It by Rose Pressey

If the Haunting Fits, Wear It by Rose PresseyCookie Chanel is on the road helping a client, Danielle, dress for the Kentucky Derby. While attending one of the parties, she discovers the dead body of Danielle's jockey, Ramon. Of course, his ghost starts following her around. He joins regular ghost Charlotte and another woman who had joined earlier in the book, Maureen.
Cookie decides to stick around to see if she can help solve Ramon's murder. While there, both of her beaus (Love-triangle alert! Seriously?) follow her and try to help out. Not helping out? Heather, the woman who owns the B&B where Cookie is staying. Also not helping, the fact that Ramon doesn't seem to have been a nice guy. It makes it hard to find out who murdered you when there are a number of people lining up for the chance.
In comparison it to other books in the series, this book was just not as good. The love triangle with Cookie took up a lot of space (and didn't really add to the mystery), Maureen took up a lot of space (and definitely didn't add to the mystery), and there just wasn't enough room to develop the main mystery.
And don't even get me started on that horrible ending. I hope it gets changed before publication.

Haunted Is Always in Fashion by Rose Pressey

Cookie Chanel, proprietress of It's Vintage Y'all and a psychic who sees ghosts, is back with another mystery. The book opens with the death of a young woman that Cookie was supposed to be meeting, Julianna. She is a ghost who immediately gets picked up by Cookie and her rather permanent ghost, Charlotte.
Haunted Is Always in Fashion by Rose PresseyThe story of this book is figuring out why Julianna got killed as much as who killed her. We also get to learn a bit more about Wind Song, the cat that Cookie has picked up.
I really hate that this series is starting to fall into the "if this is a cozy, there must be a love triangle" trap. It really felt like Ken was being shoehorned into the story, it really didn't make sense that he was there most of the time. In fact, there was a lot of making characters fit into the story which made for a lot of "coincidences" that got a bit annoying.
Overall a good book. I just hope they dump one of the love interests soon so we can get back to the mysteries with just a sprinkle of romance.

Haunt Couture and Ghosts Galore by Rose Pressey

Haunt Couture and Ghosts Galore (A Haunted Vintage Mystery #3)This is definitely not a series to be read quickly one after the other. What is kooky and fun well-spread apart just becomes predictable and repetitive. I really hope our characters move along in the next book because I didn't see much growth from Cookie in this one. It may not have been as annoying if I hadn't read all three within a few months of each other.

But our intrepid ghost-seeing Cookie is back. This time the ghost is a former private investigator who is tied to a hat. And the victim is a not-so-nice fashion designer who ends up dead in an alley with no shortage of suspects.
