Boss Witch by Ann Aguirre

Clem knows there's a witch hunter in town. He's not exactly subtle about it. She wants to protect her friends and family because, if caught, the hunter will take away not only her magic, but her memories.
Gavin Rhys doesn't exactly enjoy being a witch hunter but he wants to make his father proud. He's okay with letting go of some of his responsibilities to spend more time with the gorgeous woman he's met at the bar. He is still looking for the witches in town but maybe he has something better to focus on.
I didn't enjoy this book as much as the last because the two are inherently lying to each other the whole time they are in a relationship. I did like how Aguirre sort of dealt with that at the end though.

Deven and the Dragon by Eliot Grayson

Five years ago, Fiora (a dragon shifter) had sex with the wrong man and was cursed by his wife, a witch, to never be able to fall in love nor to have anyone fall in love with him without somebody dying. So he picked up and moved to a new town, Ridley. And the Ridley town council seems to want something from him so they've offered up a sacrifice. A young, innocent virgin.
Fiora is not pleased. It's not like he even likes women. Maybe they've heard of the curse? But then why send a sacrifice?
Deven Clifton is definitely not a virgin. In fact, he's slept with most of the young people in town. Some of them married, some of them not, but always they've been enthusiastic. And he's really enjoyed it. Being a bartender, he's confused as to why the town council has summoned him. However, he seems to be the sacrifice. Because one of the town council needs a dragon's scale and, as I heard on Episode 503 of Smart Podcast, Trashy Books "they're all like, we'll send Deven; Deven can seduce anyone." Because, in actuality, they've promised an innocent, not a virgin. And, he hasn't technically committed any crimes so he is sort of an innocent.
This retelling of Beauty and the Beast is absolutely adorable. There are some parts that didn't make a ton of sense but I overall really enjoyed the story.

Written in the Stars by Alexandria Bellefleur

Darcy Lowell is an actuary. She deals with facts. Nebulous ideas don't exist. So why is she so attracted to a woman who very much believes in things that can't be proven?
Elle Jones is an astrologer. She believes in the stars and has even built a job around that fact. In fact, her work with Darcy's brother is what brings them together. Their first date is sort of a disaster with Elle spilling wine on Darcy's vintage suit but the spark is still there. And Darcy needs to get her brother off her back about dating and Elle needs to show some stability to her family who doesn't really understand what she does.
This story was amazing. I wish there had been more closure with Elle's family but watching Elle and Darcy fall in love was a wonderful ride.

Something Fabulous by Alexis Hall

I had heard rave reviews of this book on several podcasts that finally changed my mind about reading this book. Even though Alexis Hall is an amazing writer, I wasn't sure I would love the book. I was wrong. Hall creates vivid characters and engaging situations that make for a scintillating read that is, admittedly, a little hard to believe in a few places but overall delightful.
The Duke of Malvern has finally proposed to Miss Arabella Tarleton. She... doesn't seem impressed. In fact, the next morning, EARLY the next morning, her brother Bonaventure ("Bonny") invades the duke's bedroom to let him know that Arabella has exited, stage left.
The two are soon on a road trip adventure that has the duke discovering that there are pleasures in life that he had never conceived of. True, the situations are outlandish but the prize, his true love, is worth it in the end.

Called Out by Jen Doyle

Having completely trashed his reputation by sleeping with his best friend's fiancee, Jack "Ox" Oxford, now only has one way to fix it -- to ask for his (former) best friend's, Nate Hawkins, forgiveness. On the way into Nate's hometown, Jack stops to help fix a flat tire. Except that Lola Deacon McIntire (Nate's sister's sister-in-law) immediately recognizes him and is decidedly unhappy that he's in town. Too bad he's immediately attracted to her. And sort of entranced by her oldest son (you'd think her youngest three, the triplets, would be immediate plot-moppets but Doyle manages to avoid that completely).
Jack and Lola very slowly get to know each other but she has to figure out how to overcome the damage done by his parents.

Over My Dead Body by Rex Stout

A woman wanders into the house and says that she is a Montenegran. She demands to talk to Wolfe, wanting help for her friend. Archie leaves her alone in the office for a bit and she hides a piece of paper in his office saying that the bearer is the wife of the current prince. Oh, and also, she says she's Wolfe's
daughter. And Wolfe doesn't deny that it's a possibility.
However, what starts as an accusation of theft ends up with two murders. There are the usual twists and turns that come in a Wolfe case, including at the end.
